Notes: The first Henneken archtops appeared as if it were from nowhere
at the Osnabrück Open Strings Festival in 1998. The luthier Markku Henneken has had quite a life making superb archtops in Finland
where he began. After spending some time in Germany he is now back in Finland producing those most insane Archtop guitars again.
Materials: 17" wide 3 1/4" deep carved solid maple body, carved European solid Spruce top of finest quality,
630mm (24.75") scale and 43mm (1 3/4") width at the Ebony nut. With stunning details like the Brazilian fingerboard, pickguard, bridge
and tailpiece, artistically shaped open headstock, with flamed maple-Brazilian peghead veneer, 5 piece flamed
maple-rosewood-maple-rosewood-maple laminated neck.
Hardware: Gold Grover tuners with open gear, wood covered Harry Haeussel floating pickup with volume knob on pickguard,
input jack / strap button combination.
Facts: The label inside dates it back to Summer in 2004. The excellent quality of the tonewoods used is evident everywhere
on this innovative guitar and the craftsmanship is without a doubt top notch. It weighs in at only 2,1kg !
Condition: The frets are as new and in general the guitar is in mint condition.
Playability: The first time you take it out of its case, you’re immediately struck by the easy and comfortable grip.
It's a joy to play and so damn comfortable and smooth. The guitar lies pleasantly light like a feather in your hand.
Tone: The acoustic tone is clear, transparent and very balanced, the sound is jazzy and characteristic, a most
interesting guitar for jazz players looking for something really special, with a clearly ’acoustic’-sounding amplified tone.
Case: Comes with Calton case that fits snug to the guitar.
Setup: The guitar is currently strung with flat wound strings (.012 - .054).
The guitar has been thoroughly checked and cleaned.
To Summarize: This ExP One is a beautiful sculptured archtop made with fine details f.e. rounded edges of the Spruce
top and Maple back plate and the inlay in the cutaway but generally with D'Aquisto-like modesty in ornamentation. Simple
and effective. Focussed on tone and playability the ExP One is much more than an experimental guitar. It's a serious instrument
for the discriminating jazz player. There are not too many Henneken out there so take your chance on this unique one-of-a-kind
hand-built Quality Archtop.
