Notes: The Dove was introduced back in 1962 and is being produced ever since.
Materials: Sitka Spruce top, square shouldered dreadnought body, round soundhole with multiple bound rosette inlayed
in body, highly figured quilted Maple on back and sides, flamed Maple neck, 14/20 frets, bound Rosewood fingerboard with pearl
parallelogram inlay, Rosewood Dove wing bridge with pearl inlay on both sides of the bridge, blackface peghead with pearl
crown/logo inlay.
Hardware: 3 per side Grover tuners.
Facts: Made 2001. Gibson probably forgot to label it as Dove Quilted, the label only says Dove. However, it is
obvious that only the best tonewoods have been used for this exceptionally fine guitar.
Condition: The guitar has been maintained in perfect condition with very minor play wear on the first three frets,
no issues, the entire binding is tight to the body.
Playability: Action is very low and smooth without buzz and the neck profile is a comfortable D. The neck is
straight as an arrow.
Tone: It has a very balanced tone and is very loud. The bass is both boomy and growly, with creamy mids and sparkling
highs. These complex tones mesh together perfectly, creating a powerful acoustic tone. The combination of the solid maple
back and sides with the Sitka Spruce top create a really sweet sound with lots of presence. Strumming can roar or purr and
the notes are clear and bell-like.
Case: Comes with earlier Gibson Acoustic case probably from the 80ties in good working condition.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter
or heavier gauge strings, according to your preference. The entire guitar is inspected, fingerboard and bridge oiled,
body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
To Summarize: The Quilted Maple on the back surely means: Doves in Flight. We are curious to see where this Dove
will settle down being the turtle-dove for the next happy owner. An excellent instrument with unbeatable looks and outstanding
tone qualities, a very rare bird.
